Mojo changes coat for spring!

So over the last few weeks Mojo has had his first big shed. Loosing his thick soft puppy coat for a sleeker new look for the warmer weather to come.

This was just one of many 5 minute brushing sessions and he still leaves hairs on everything!!

Lighthouse Park

On Saturday the weather was great and we were up & about quite early so we headed over to Lighthouse Park.

It was around 8.00am so the trails were still lovely and quiet, except for the raucous birdsong.

Mojo enjoyed his walk even though there weren’t as many dogs to play with as normal !

Then during the afternoon I held an open-house at a duplex in Central Lonsdale.  While the house and the open were uneventful it did afford some nice views of the North Shore mountains.

Lonsdale Quay for lunch

Yesterday I picked David up from the Seabus after another OR 1 Program, his penultimate.  We have used the seabus a lot more than normal while he has been attending the gym downtown.

It was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to stop for lunch at the newly expanded Soup Meister in Lonsdale Quay.

The Quay affords a terrific view of the downtown skyline, David on the Seabus that’s approaching.

Vancity Bank had an eyecatching promotional feature in the plaza, a huge ice sculpture advertising their 3.89% 5-year fixed rate mortgage.

Pitt Lake, April 2010

Today Mojo and I walked along the Pitt River to the head of Pitt Lake.

The journey out to Pitt Meadows is quicker now thanks to the new Pitt River Bridge on the Lougheed Highway which opened in the last few months.

On the way to the lake we cross the Alouette River.  Views to the West.

I noticed this house was built onto two huge pieces of rock.

We then walk alongside the Pitt River as it comes out of Pitt Lake.  Looking West here along the river.

It was a very windy day so poor Mojo was getting blown to bits and wouldn’t keep his eyes open !

Snowshoeing on Seymour

This morning I took Mojo up onto Mt Seymour for some fun in the snow while the sun was still out and before it all melts for the end of the season.

On route up Seymour we take in the views from the lookout to the South-East.  Here Simon Fraser University is situated on the green hill in the centre, mountains in Washington in the distance.

Zooming in on Burnaby and the dark penninsula on the far right leading out into the sea is Point Roberts – an odd piece of land attached entirely to Canada but is actually a small piece of Washington state.

As we set out the ski runs are still quiet.  Mojo is very tempted to test these nice flat white runs out but there are park rangers nearby who probably wouldn’t have been supportive.  He sticks to the trails for the short distance we run parallel to the ski run and then turn into the forest.

Mojo is delighted with all the snow, having had very little at home this year this was his first opportunity to get out and really run around in it.

Not long and we reach the look-out from Dog Mountain.  The view here of Downtown.

We then start heading back.  The sunlight through the forest.

Back at the end of the trail the First Aid ATV races up the ski hill, I guess someone has had an accident further up ? 

After our walk I decided it was not be right to be so close to Deep Cove without calling in to Honeys for a donut….perfect for elevenses !
