Photos by Sig

Last week I went out with our good friend Sig to have some more professional photographs taken of me for my business. Sig is a photograpgher by trade and was happy to do this for me.

You can see more of her work on her website www.shinephotography.com

So after the photos were taken Sig decided to stop by my car to say hi to Mojo and give him some fuss. However a few cute looks later by Mojo and the fuss session had turned into an impromptu photoshoot for him right there on the sidewalk.

These are a few of our favourite images Sig took that afternoon.

Sig very generously had three of them printed and framed for us which will look awesome in the entrance hall once we've finished decorating. Thanks Sig !

Roger & Lin Visit

On Wednesday we had 'Uncle' Roger and his wife Lin who are friends of Davids family make a brief pit stop with us as they had one day in Vancouver before catching the Rocky Mountaineer train on Thursday. David collected them from their hotel downtown and they came back to the house initially for coffee and to meet Mojo. They had visited before and seen the house previously but not of course to meet the newest member of the family.

Late morning we headed out to see a few sights that Roger and Lin hadn't seen on previous trips to the city. The weather wasn't great but we got a few snaps in before the monsoons started !

First we went over to Capilano Lake. Here David is with Mojo.

Roger and Lin at the lake. They are both keen photographers so have quite an extensive amount of equipment with them.

Then we drove up to the viewpoint on the road to Cypress Bowl. Mojo is proudly showing off his new city here.

Then we moved onto Horseshoe Bay for lunch at the ever excellent Boathouse. Views here from the park

And then across Sewells Marina.

By mid afternoon the heavens had fully opened so we returned home for tea, chatting and more play with Mojo before returning Roger & Lin to their hotel ready for an early departure the following morning.
It was lovely to see them here again and hope that they are enjoying the remainder of their holiday here in Canada.

Mojo I'm Yours

Cruise Ships

Earlier this year two of the biggest cruiseship operators announced plans to move the base of their Alaska operations from Vancouver to Seattle. This would be effective from 2010. The reasons cited were the economic downturn was going to reduce the number of potential travellers and the majority of travellers were from the US so by starting their cruise in Seattle they would not need to travel outside the country.

So, next year there will be about half the number of cruiseships operating out of Vancouver that there currently are, so we have to make the most of them while they're here.

The cruise-season has definately started for this year though, as the webcam photo below shows

Out & About with Mojo

The first few weeks with Mojo have been extremely busy. David and I have had few days off together with him unfortunately. Nonetheless, we have both been working hard at settling the little fella in and getting him used to some of the typical routines.

Mojo was a little unimpressed at being given an old 'hand-me-down' bed of Charlies that we were using in the car. He destroyed it pretty quickly. So today I headed over to PetSmart with him to pick up a new one. It is new, but also cheap - a happy compromise if this one doesn't last long either !

Here he is trying it out for size before we go out for the day.

I have been making extra effort to take Mojo everywhere we go, he seems happy to come along for the car ride and it's all good socialisation. So, when I have appointments, so does Mojo.

If I have several appointments one after the other I have to organise my time to include a quick 'grass stop' for Mojo to do some of lifes basics.

This afternoon I had an appointment in the Yaletown neighbourhood of downtown so as we were running a little early paused at 3rd Beach in Stanley Park for one such reststop.

We will invest in a dog guard shortly and insist Mojo travels in the back. When we first start driving Mojo can be quite a wanderer, sometimes wanting to be in the front, sometimes the middle and sometimes the back. However, until we have the guard we have negotiated the best spot is the back bench seat in my car.

However, after a few minutes driving Mojo typically gives in to a good snooze, rarely somewhere comfortable like the seat, usually choosing the floor between the middle row of seats

Or resting on the rubbish I have between the two front seats !

Either way, Mojo is so far proving to be an excellent Realtors assistant and my clients have enjoyed the chance to get a cuddle in between showings !
