So finally it was time to head home after an excellent break on the Island.
We figured we had plenty of time to get to Nanaimo and catch the 3.10pm sailing, so decided to take a small de-tour on the way to Englishman River Falls, a Provincial Park about 30 minutes North West of Nanaimo and a great place to stop and have lunch.
Thank you Mum for these photos
Our timing enabled us to arrive at Nanaimo Ferry Terminal almost an hour before the sailing time, only to discover that there was such high demand the sailing was already full. Therefore we had a 3 hour wait at the terminal for the next sailing, quite pleasant in the warm sun and Dad's now a convert to Starbucks' Frappucino !
Once aboard, we enjoyed a sunny sailing back to Horseshoe Bay in the Lower Mainland.
Looking back after we depart Departure Bay in Nanaimo.
A Harbour Air seaplane passes overhead carrying commuters home to Nanaimo from Coal Harbour, Vancouver.
Shortly after we passed the Coastal Rennaisance, one of three new ferrys launched into service by BC Ferries, this one going into service in April 2008.
Views North East to Howe Sound
Looking towards Downtown with Mt Baker in the background.
Finally, a nice view of Howe Sound as we approach Horseshoe Bay
All in all, an excellent few days away and great to spend lots of time with Mum and Dad.
